Hi all.
I was very surprised to find out today that systen access to go is now free to everyone without limitations. Before we could try out the service for 30 days and then we had to pay. But today i visited the serotek website and they said that now system access is free.
If you didn't try it already you can visit www.satogo.com and give it a go. The website is self voiced so disable your screen reader before entering the website.
Enjoy

I tried it and it's not entirely self voicing (at least not on my Windows XP sp2 machine). After being told to press enter you actually have to press alt-r to get the process running (you get the install dialog box that asks you if you want to run, open or cancel this file) so that is actually a bit of a bug, I openned this from www.accessibilityisaright.org so may be it's different).
The programme itself is impressive though, I must say, at least for a free screen reader. I just opened some emails, openned Excel to check, read some web pags and played music from a folder on a separate drive, good stuff, I think they deserve a huge compliment.

Yes for the program to work you download a small application but after you close system access to go it doesn't leave anything behind. Yes i agree it is very impressive and it also works with live messenger and skype etc.
It even speaks better than jaws sometimes for example in the edit profile dialogue in skype. Also in some websites it automatically labels graphick buttons so they can speak. An example is the amazon website.
Very good job.

Yes, but too bad it doesn't support Firefox...

I've tried it, and I thought it worked really well. I haven't checked out the site recently, but I think it's great that it's being offered for free!

the actual steps to go through to get Sa to go to talk through instillation are these.
unload any screen reader you might have running.

go to www.satogo.com

then you will hear something like welcome to ssytem access to go, please press enter to begin. Once you press enter, you will hear, after a few seconds, "please press alt plus r again to begin. press this twice slowly, as you are accepting the windows run dialogue and the internet explorer run dialogue. you will then hear a strange tone repeatedly which means the process of loading into your system's memory is beginning, along with a percentage done count. you will then hear it say, "welcome to system access to go,,," then it will give you a list of options to register, buy SA moble, etc. hth

I tried System Access To Go. I like the program because it uses Dectalk to speak text on the screen. My only problem is that after System Access To Go put itself into the computer's memory, my antivirus program told me a virus/spyware was trying to access the Internet. So, I blocked the spyware's access to the Internet and rebooted the computer in order to remove System Access from memory. Just my thoughts.

I don't think the movie part is free. You can listen to discriptive movies in the samobile website but this is different from system access to go.

to the person who said they had spyware like activity on their pc after installing system access to memory, yes that can happen, though some pc's don't mind it, others do. my laptop for instance hates sa to go, but the desktop doesn't. same spyware removers, firewall etc. strange.
